Design websites and brands for organizations fighting climate change, poverty, and inequality. A small team doing work that matters.

Job description

Who We Are

Radish Lab is a purpose-driven creative agency shaping stories and sharpening brands for organizations improving the world. We specialize in web design, strategy, and branding for nonprofits and foundations. Our clients include the New York Community Trust, UNICEF, the American Cancer Society, and (RED). Right now we're working with organizations fighting for reproductive autonomy, making the case for affordable housing policy, and rethinking what early childhood education can look like.

We believe good design is clear, simple, and fun. And we believe that good design has the power to move you, and the people you do business with. We're a certified B Corporation, held accountable for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

About You

You're comfortable moving between visual worlds rather than defaulting to a single aesthetic. You enjoy the problem-solving side of project work as much as the design itself: the tradeoffs, the constraints, the conversations about what's possible and how to get there.

You love Figma, and it shows. You get excited about new features. Your files are clean, well-structured, and a pleasure for other people to open. Components, variables, styles, auto-layout: this is your native language. This matters to us a lot.

You're a scrappy problem solver with great taste. You stay curious about what's happening in design and technology, bring that into the work, and share it with the team. Plus, you've got a sense of humor.

What You'll Do

As Senior Designer you'll report to our Creative Director and be at the center of Radish's creative work from concept through delivery. We're a team of 12: designers, developers, strategists, and project managers. Small enough that you'll have a real say in how we work and how we improve, but taking on projects with the scope and complexity of much larger agencies.

At any given time, you'll likely be working across two to three client projects in different stages: one in early concepting, another deep in design production, another in developer handoff. Some projects are large organizational websites that span months. Others are tighter brand sprints or work for existing clients. The pace varies, but the constant is that you're the lead designer on the work, with the Creative Director as your close collaborator and a project manager keeping things on track.

  • Concept, design, and iterate on websites and brands for social impact organizations

  • Translate strategy and wireframes into polished, production-ready visual design in Figma

  • Develop and maintain design systems, UI kits, and style guides

  • Present concepts and design work to clients, guiding conversation and decision-making when needed

  • Prepare files for developer handoff with clear annotations, responsive specifications, and attention to accessibility

  • Work closely with project managers to understand deadlines, budgets, and deliverables

  • Balance creative ambition with project realities: scope, timeline, and budget

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure designs translate cleanly to the built product

  • Participate in weekly staffing meetings and project planning

  • Help improve internal design processes, templates, and workflows

  • Support new business efforts with ideas or design concepts when needed

  • Stay current on design tools, trends, and best practices and share what you learn with the team

Location

Radish Lab is a remote agency. For this position, you must be comfortable working during EST hours. At least six of your working hours must fall between 7AM and 8PM EST. We do not offer sponsorship at this time.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: 80,000 to 95,000 USD

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA/HSA options

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

  • Two-week company-wide winter break

  • Unlimited PTO

  • A supportive team culture that prioritizes work/life balance

  • For NYC employees: pre-tax MTA Metrocards and complimentary Citibike membership

Our Values

Radish Lab has five core values and we expect you to share them.

  • Empathy helps us better understand what a project's goals might really be, why a client's work is so vital to the people they serve, and why a coworker might be having a bad day.

  • Curiosity enables us to ask better questions, keeps us humble, and nurtures an adventurous spirit.

  • Kindness sounds easy, like holding the door open for someone, but we try to hold ourselves to a higher bar. If you hold the door open for someone then support a system that oppresses them, is that truly kind?

  • Diversity. Asking who isn't at the table is vital. Our work is better when we have a diverse team, client contacts, and stakeholders.

  • Camaraderie. Having good working relationships with our colleagues makes our days more enjoyable, and makes our work better.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
